Just a random thought, I love At the Gates, Slaughter of the Soul shits over most melodic death albums.
But, is being an At the Gates rip off a bad thing? I mean, along with In Flames, D.Tranquility and Soilwork they redefined the metal rulebook and set a new template. They basically did what Metallica, Slayer and Megadeth did to NWOBHM and hardcore punk in the 80's. Practically every band since the 80's owes something to those thrash bands, and have imitated them in countless ways. There's no way to avoid it, everyone accepts it, and no one picks on a band for having palm muted, tightly picked metal rythms. So my point is, since the Gothenberg melodic scene emerged, surely it's become such an integrated factor of modern metal music, that to claim someone as having ripped them off is a bit pointless. In the case of Trivium, theyre just making good melodic metal music surely? There's a million bands nicking bits from the swedish sound. Incorporating a bit of it into your band's sound is surely a good thing. Anyway, a bit off topic but nevermind.
Regarding Maiden, i'll be there. Cant wait for it!
