Howza about a "Welcome to the rocksoc corner!" night

Welcome to the RockSoc board, it gets worse here every day... talk about RockSoc, rock music, plain rocks or other silly irrelevant drivel. All are welcome: members & non-members, of the past, present & future.

Howza about a "Welcome to the rocksoc corner!" night

Postby James Baster on Fri Oct 18, 2002 4:19 pm

Following on from Rocksoc family tree thread discussion about The Rocksoc corner and needing to get some 1st and 2nd years in there, Ive personally told a couple of 1st years Just to drop by anytime but noone has, and I can see why, its pretty intimidating just dropping by a corner in a pub and anouncing yourself to a bunch of strangers. That, or my hair is just really off putting at the moment.

How about announcing a night in the rocksoc corner for all the young uns to come to?

I'll give it some thought. Watch this space.

What's the difference between meeting people in the bar and meeting people in venue2 during the discos (apart from the noise making it hard to speak I suppose)? Plus, why would there have to be a specific night? It's not as if 'rockSoc' corner is cordoned off the rest of the time, people are more than welcome to wander over and say hello.

Maybe, but going up to any group of complete strangers and introducing yourself is always frigtening.

Especially when Rocksoc has an image of being pierced goth freaks who eat cute kittens for tea and kick puppy dogs to relax. Me personally, I've found you the friendliest bunch of freaks I've ever had the pleasure of meeting but still I can see why others have problems ...

A night especially designed to welcome new people in would be a great sucess I think.

Either that, or we have to start the ...

THE ROCKSOC ESCORT SERVICE

Do you want to come to Rocksoc but are to scared? Do you want to meet the cool people but are to scared theyll chain you up and whip you? Do you want to be chained up and whipped by the cool people but are to shy to ask?

You need the rocksoc escort service! Be escorted round; be introduced to old bastards and old bastards in training; enjoy rocksoc without feeling scared!

Put me down for the nice young girls :-D *

[s]* Not really. We are trying not to scare them after all.[/s]

See, now that's a good idea. Get volunteering rockSoccers, we need escorts. Do you want to be pimp, James, or shall I?

I know this is all in the name of good clean fun, but lay off the puppy dogs, ok?

Canines have rights too.

I wandered lonely just like cloud
he had a puppy and he was proud
So I chained it up in front of Rory
And whipped it until it was gory.
