The possible advantages of living in the town with the biggest Marcher castle slap bang in the centre of it might have been a pointer.

It started out as the C13th castles of the de Clare family, and has morphed into The Marcher Families, their interfamilial relationships, and their impact on the Welsh Wars of independence, 1260-1284.
