Have a Good Christmas

Welcome to the RockSoc board, it gets worse here every day... talk about RockSoc, rock music, plain rocks or other silly irrelevant drivel. All are welcome: members & non-members, of the past, present & future.

But seeing as we're on the subject of criticisms of rocksoc, Can I make two constructive, non musical ones?

Not to mention the curious incident of the music played regularly on evil, evil kerrang garnering an enormous response from the fickle (If rather tipsy) membership.

Would this by any chance be the same Graham whose lately been using his life membership like a brothel reciept? Turning up so he can pour drinks down the throats of, drag off, and fuck people half his age (as was the case last rocksoc)? What a fucking role model!

(but then I'm biased. He's been trying it on with my missus behind my back for the last two months. Waster!)

As for the rest. Same old, same old! I agree with what H said about bad songs. Jez's set at top of the rocks had a couple of song's I quite liked (Including Trivium's new one Ironically). I didn't bother going up coz i wasn't in the mood! Likewise, Kat's set had some complete dross (I'm allowed to say so about an individual set for once, because I know she didn't choose it herself ;P) and yet I spent plenty of time up dancing to it purely coz I was lashed by then!

But seeing as we're on the subject of criticisms of rocksoc, Can I make two constructive, non musical ones?

Tables: While having six or seven large things of tables is fine, splitting them up into lots of smaller blocks ones makes the whole room look a lot more full, which i think kind of adds to the atmosphere.

Posters: Not a major thing, but I reckon they add to the effect somewhat. There's bound to be a poster sale before the start of term. If the committie spent like fifty quid buying up a load of rocky/weird/filthy posters to stick up on the walls, it'd look a lot cooler!

See ladies and gents, this is how you do it. Thank you very much Jono. No name calling, no insults, no elitism, just good old fashioned criticism. Which is great, because we do actually WANT to be better.

Oh Christ, what have I done?

The thing is, the whole music debate has been going on since I joined last year, and I'll bet a dime to a dollar it'll be going on long after we've all graduated. I'll spare everyone from a long-winded analysis of the situation, but can we not just accept that the society isn't off-puttingly bad, and that we neednt worry about being bought-out by evil roadrunner executives (Being sued for the unlicensed performance of roadrunner copywritten songs however...)

Can't we all just enjoy ourselves. And if you find it THAT bad, the bar's open for a reason!

Well said Jono, praise giving etc etc

The music debate will probably go on forever but I'm naively optimistic that the auditioning of some decent DJs might turn things around a bit...if only temporarily. Anymore word on that?

Christmas was epic. No crackling to be had but I did have pigs in blankets. Then after they woke up we ate them :) No snow unfortunately but the overflowing of food and booze more than makes up for it

What was everyone's best present?

I got a surprising number of weapons for Christmas too...

I got a George Forman grill. Brilliant thing. I guess I'll have an alternative to pish hall dinners from now on.

I also got a couple of dragonforce CD's. 14 tracks of the exact same song! Not a bad song mind you!

I like Forman grills but I dislike Formanaters. There were some proper TWATS in Uni Hall last year who practically tossed each other off over theirs. Like the holy grail of fasionable kitchen appliances. They worshipped it and gathered in groups to marvel at in in awed numbers. And they collected fat in a milk bottle and kept it...for what I do not know. Cheap lube? Tossers.

Sorry if this starts up the music debate again, i hope it doesn't, I just didn't have computer access when Rik attacked me for the fact that i like Trivium and that it was a sure indication that Rocksoc was going down the pan just because a DJ liked one band that he didn't like. I can like whomever i damn well please, i have only featured them in a set once and it is not a sign of bad Djing to like a wide variety of bands (well rock and metal bands in my case). I said they were epic as i was saying what gigs i had been to and how they went, i personally like Trivium and thought they did a good live show and deserved kudos (even if the lead singer was a wanker), they are not my favorite band by a long shot.
