Ban house music from the clubs

I am new in St Andrews (go PhD gogo!) and I am desperately looking for a club that plays decent alternative/indie/rock music like Arctic Monkeys, Subways, Rise Against, Chemical Romance, Billy Talent, The Kooks - just to name a few... I'd also like to go to concerts, but all of the people I've gotten to know so far cannot even distinguish let's say Muse from Oasis, if you know what I mean? AFI is playing in Edinburgh end of April, so if anyone's interest, my car could get us there... or if you know about cool upcoming events, I'd really like to know!!

LoL. Ok I should be helpful now instead of insulting. RockSoc club nights are probably the best place. Venue 2 every alternate Thursday. With general fun at other times (open mic/karaoke (sp?) night on saturday)

For more of the indie/alternative music AltSoc is on Fridays (as far as I can remember...) but if you wanna good dance-like-a-idiot atmospshere come to rock soc

All are welome at RockSoc. Be prepared though Rock and Metal are the corner stones of a night so if you don't like headbanging and air guitar then AltSoc might be more your cup of bovril. That being said I'm certainly no AFI or Chemical Romance expert (Muse was the only band I like that you mentioned) so I'm sure some of the Rocksoc DJs play that stuff.

Yeah, Rocksoc does play some of those bands, come along and see what you think There's one on next Thursday!

Alternatively, depending on who's working in Aikmans (and therefore who's mp3 player is plugged in) these bands are often played. However, it is a pub not a club so maybe Rocksoc would be your best bet. Failing that there are other societies too.
