Hmm, the AI thing sounds like it could make for a really good event and I'd certainly be interested in that one. One problem might be that the philosophy society/department/something like that had one last year. Still, I went to that and I'd be keen to go to anything Wired did on the subject too - you really can't deal with such a complicated topic in one go, so there's plenty that you could go into, even without looking at the stuff that came up in the philosophy event (if anyone can remember much about it by now, I think it was semester one sometime). The challenge would be to find an interesting angle to persue, rather than something general like 'what is AI'. Although the philosophy society's policy of feeding everyone alcohol at the start would be a nice crossover...

Personally, I think it makes sense to join up with other societies for certain events. I mean, if we'd known about it *D'Oh!* we'd have joined up with the psychology society and joined in on the fun. Other obvious societies include Olly^H^H^H^HQuantumSoc and ChaoSoc.
