Deus Ex was an awesome game, which I fell in love with at the very beginning. Deus Ex two, on the other hand, is a steaming turd burger.

But my favorite game, ever, would have to be Blade Runner.

(Though I feel RTW is gaining on it, and HL2 may surpass it.)

Having been a UT fan before I traitorously started enjoying Q3, I'm not sure which is the better game - Q3 is for faster and more arcadey games (and as argued about before, trick jumps), where UT seems to be slower paced and somehow more thoughtful on occasion.

Q3's maps tend to fall in to one of two themes - the platformy space maps, which I think are great, and the "otherworldly" castles, which start to look the same after a while. UT's maps are far more diverse and have a unique theme and backstory for each of them.

What I like about UT is that all the weapons have their strengths and weaknesses, rather than the Quake series where some weapons are blatantly superior. Or at least, superior in the hands of dunqn.

I've never played more than three levels of Half-life. I'll have to correct that at some point.

Yeah - there's different options when buying HL2 - rated Bronze Silver and Gold - get a lot of stuff with Gold (so I might get that)

Now all I need is a good computer. It's torture having all these games coming out at once... Is there going to be a new version of Natural Selection out too? That might just be enough to force me to get a new machine...

What is going on....?!?

Postby RichZ on Mon Oct 11, 2004 2:33 am

What's happened to Wolf this year? There seems to be little talk of it on this board like last year - it's dispicable (just like my spelling!) I've been playing Wolf on public servers since we got broadband at home and it's great! Remember the good old times guys - the game that lasted from 10pm till 5am? Ahhhh those were the days!

Or......maybe you are playing but just not posting on here or telling me....ohhhhh noooo!!! Say it isn't true!?

BTW I now realise how annoying I was when I first started - some of the people on the public servers really are terrible! - aimlessly wandering around - not trying to achieve objectives at all only interesting in jumping about on stuff and getting as many kills as possible! I tell you - IT'S AN OUTRAGE! Tut!

Sooooooo anyway - let me know if and when you play again, I can even remember old IPs - how sad!

Yeah. The one time you seem to have played it Resnet was buggered for me. I do however not have a clue what i'm meant to do in it (other than the blatantly obvious gunning down).

some wolf would be very agreeable. How about we plan a big wolf night a week ahead? Thursdays are best for me so we could annouce a big game for thursday the 21st and try and attract 12+ people because they'll have plenty of time to see it coming and plan around it.

Hmm... at the time I'd have to say I liked FFVIII best, although I haven't played FFVII yet. But at the moment it's RTW!

Not the best game ever I know....but it's a classic!

Postby RichZ on Thu Oct 21, 2004 11:19 am

Yeah - I've rediscovered Transport Tycoon recentlly, now I don't know how many of you used to play it but it's GREAT! :-) You've got a big map with towns and industries on it and have to build a transport system delivering passengers, coal, mail, iron-ore, steel, etc etc and make lots of money - it's great, as i said.

So who's played it and isn't it cool!

See forum here:

And you're too lazy to search for links, you can download from here:

Also quite good site for patch and downloads:

Thoughts?

Transport Tycoon is utterly great. It's far more fun than building a transport network should be.

I'm still unsure about the sequel, Locomotion - I downloaded a demo of it and I can't decide whether the new more RCT-like style of it makes the game better or worse.

It's hopelessly flawed. I tried played it recently and found it unbelievably frustrating. Doing simple things like laying out tracks or replacing vehicles takes far too long to make the game enjoyable. It might have been good in its day but compared to the current crop it's fairly average (in my opinion).

14 days 16 hours and 17 minutes until Football Manager is released :D
