I can't even send emails to my own family with out having to use crappy web based mail. Damn blocked ports.
Quoting JackDaniels from 17:32, 26th Apr 2005
bit torrent is not blocked on resnet, just most of the ports that the popular trackers out there use are. if a site had a tracker which was on an unblocked port then it would work fine, I imagine.

Email works fine for me. As to your question Si a port scan (on my IP) reveals:
...
Port Scan has completed ...
In other words no open ports for anything much really.
Quoting Brother Munro from 16:05, 29th Apr 2005@ amac: I don't know what email program you use but I'll try and help. For webmail the incoming and outgoing mail server (for me) is psych.st-andrews.ac.uk, you'll need to alter psych to your own server (bute, whatever) with a POP account type. Rest of the info is user name password, full email address etc. Connection is through port 110, though you shouldn't have to alter this.

i've got bittorrent working on resnet, but i'm slightly wary about posting details incase the port is shut down. so far only two of us (that i know about) using it, but it could look suspicious with a couple of hundred people all running a few hundred kbps each way on one port.
