Mailhost

Has anyone else had problems trying to use mailhost(.st-and.ac.uk) as an SMTP server? Evolution doesn't seem to like it much for me, despite working perfectly for a while.

I can send it through wired OK though (and now just use that as my smtp server).

I set up mailhost as my SMTP server last night, and it works fine.

I have used Thunderbird both at home and in Anstruther and never had a problem.

Just realised that I am talking absolute bollocks in my last post, so I will now attempt to interpret:

I have used Thunderbird with Uni email both within and outside RESNET, outside being in Anstruther.

Hope that this makes more sense than previous post.

when you are at home you'll need to use the SMTP servers of your ISP, the uni ones wont work there, so for example i use smtp.btopenworld.com at home, not all mailservers are as simply named tho, i seem to remember pipex having extra stuff!

If you use windows you could use Autoroute SMTP (http://www.mailutilities.com/ars/?fars_11 ) and after configuration either automatically or manually select the right SMTP server depending on your computer's IP.
