Overclocking?

Postby Spike on Mon May 05, 2008 5:14 pm

Are there any other overclockers out there? i have a core 2 quad q6600 sitting at a nice and stable 3.4 GHz (on a P5K Premium) and am wondering if anyone out there can help me squeeze some more out of it.

That depends. Do you have access to liquid nitrogen?

yeah, got tons of it (in chem).

the odd thing is liquid N2 is cheaper than mineral water per litre!

I was half joking about the LN2, but it depends on what you've done to the box already? I'm assuming it's just aircooled? Water cooling is messy and probably isn't worth the effort unless you're really keen and don't mind killing your computer by accident too much. What fans/heatsinks are you using at the moment?

You have water cooling and you still want more? I don't personally know anyone who has tried cryo cooling, but there's a few how-tos at sites like Tom's hardware. Haunted (see any Sinner posts about religion) is probably the most experienced overclocker/modder on the Sinner afaik and upgrades his boxen on an almost monthly basis. Not sure if he ever browses weirdsoc, but he finds memory timings sexy and has a server case the size (and weight) of a house. You could try posting on the main board or PMing him or something.
