SHOWERS!!!

Just wondering if anyone else has been having problems with their showers? My shower hasnt been working properly from day one. I need to turn it on for at least half an hour until it heats up. Then finally today, after many close calls, it flooded the entire bathroom including the hallway just outside my door.

my flooded on tuesday and the porter came and did something to it.

was working fine but today started to fill up again so i turned it off b4 it flooded

has drained away but think it prob not tomorrow!

am in haig, so it might be the building!

no i would think it is to do with the way they have built the showers! they are far too shallow to cope with the pressure of the water.
mine has done it but not flooded the whole room yet, but my flat mates has, was awful!!

just yet another thing thats wrong with (in my honest and justified opinion) the single worst hall in town. it looks nice but when you get inside its a total hole with walls that are too thin and almost no social interaction. hate it here but only for 6 more days

Quite, my experience of the showers in DRA is one of unparalleled joy. As someone who has experienced the showers in DRH the velocity and temperatures (not to mention privacy) of the DRA showers came as a joyful suprise. You're like, 'this is pretty powerful', and then you're like 'and that's only at the half-power setting that the bird leaves it on'. With a cry of 'Ohhhh, we're half way there' whack the thing onto full power and turn the heat up a little and you're in seventh heaven.

No trouble with flooding in my experience (in the shower at least). Ave it!

As for 'the worst hall in town' comment that's just crazy talk. Thin walls - surely that improves the potential for being social.

I find here far to anti social - hence moving in to a proper hall next year. My shower floods almost every time I use it.

Do you really think that DRA is the worst hall in St A? Have you taken into account the state of Andrew Melville, old DRH, Fife park etc etc I don't know what you were expecting. The halls in st A are far better than any student accomodation i've seen in other towns. What more do you want? You have a decent-sized room with a DOUBLE BED (!!!!), FANTASTIC shower, desk, tv ...the kitchen has it's own seating area and we have a dishwasher! Ok, so maybe the laundry washing is a bit of a problem BUT the apartments have only just been built. Also, as for socialising, make the effort! Surely you have met people through the various balls and parties the committee have worked so hard to pull together for us all? I think DRA is a super hall and i have enjoyed my year here. I will miss it very much next year. Good luck with the exams everybody! xxx

I stayed in DRA while I was fucking about in one of the departments over the summer, there are nicer halls about - not surprising, seeing as DRA was built as conference accomodation first, halls second - but DRA isn't "bad" by any stretch of the imagination.

The showers are shocking though, anyone with long hair clogs the drains up faster than a dropkicked leopard and it's very hard not to get the whole bathroom floor flooded. They are warm and powerful though, so it's not nearly as bad as it could be.
