Movies - AKA the Friendly Ents Thread

Postby hopie on Thu Oct 07, 2004 8:47 am

Seeing as though ill be showing three movies every sunday night from now until the edge of forever I thought I'd start a suggestions thread for the people (thats you) to tell Ents (thats me) what they want especially as my movie taste is rather specific

So far the only request i have had is for a Kill Bill Double bill (sic) and that will be happening at some point preferably within the next couple of weeks

Id also consider themes for film nights such as actors, genres, directors etc and individual screenings for weeknights if sundays are not for you

Regards Hopie(ents)

How about a Dunhill theme while it's here?

Stuff with Michael Douglas, Catherine Zeta Jones, Samuel L Jackson, Hugh Grant, Kevin Costner etc.

I'd suggest the Untouchables, Traffic, 51st State.

well if we're going with a Dunhill theme, i say we focus on the hottest celeb who will be here and have a Hugh-Grant-athon..! women, gay men and Jules would love it!

how about Four Weddings and a Funeral, Notting Hill, Bridget Jones' Diary and Love Actually (apparently Jules has seen About A Boy too many times...)

I concur, Hugh Grant rocks, and is much more attractive than Colin Firth.

In that case Mr. Potton must join us when we watch it - he and Jules discussing the attractiveness of both actors whilst pissed on Pimms and Asti in the summer was something so hillarious all must see it again!

Umm, not a gaylord, merely a realist. Firth over Grant, I tend to think.
Besides, Cleaver is not as cool in the book as the film.

it's blatantly Firth. He IS divine.,,,as opposed to hugh, who only DID her. anyone who thinks otherwise is in need of an eye test.

Absolutely. Colin every time. Although Mr Grant is delightfully polite to freezing people on golf courses and very English, talks about the weather you know....

But just now that I think about it, Hugh as Mr Prime Minister in Love Actually was most yummy, BUT then so was Colin as lovely writer, learn portugeuse man.....

Speaking of, is there anything playing tomorrow night?

Kill Bill vol 1
Kill Bill vol 2

and perhaps, the midnight movie, dependant on how many people go to bed after kill bill.
Braindead (i think.)

Full details are available on the noticeboard in the foyer.

Film Request

Postby Guest on Mon Oct 18, 2004 12:28 pm

Excellent film that should be shown by our most excellent ents officer:
"La Haine"
(translated as "Hate") It is an amazing film by Matthieu Kassovitz, starring Vincent Cassel. If you can find it anywhere, please show it. French language with English subtitles, but well, well worth it! Does anyone own a copy?
