the prudish need not apply.

Certainly not, if your record concerning academic children is anything to go by! :P

On that note, are you not due to be thrown off the pier?

Because the last decent ents rep was a first year, the librarian for the past few years had been a first year, and computer rep is a job that people have to be unaware of the nature of the job to actually volunteer for it. Also because I and my chronies blocked putting those elections before we broke up during an important constitutional meeting, harnessing the powers of the majority vote.

Fiona dear - if your insist on throwing Jules off the peir, then I'm afraid that I, your dear caring, loving mother, would suffer the same fate... Not preferable!

Nope top floor dude, far side of A floor with a view over the cabbage patch towards town. If you were on the bottom floor that would be E and you would be most likely have a view into a brick wall.

Further guesses on the rooms are as follows:

[l]
[li]A14 A south facing room on the third floor of Chattan built into the attic after the hall opened, hence the sloping ceiling. The window is of dormer type, and the shared room is small and cozy. This room is approximately the same size as the single room, E4, which is four floors below.
[li]A31 On the third (i.e. highest) floor facing north over North Street and the sea, which can be seen from the bay windows of this shared room. The highest numbered room on A-floor, it happens to be above the sitting room of the subwardens flat, but is large and the lovely big single room of A30 is the only adjacent bedroom.

A14 is also set up so that the beds face each other so that you can have 3 or 4 people sitting on each bed, add some chairs, and a few bottles of gin, and that my friend is a party. We used rum, but the idea's the same.

Hi! I'm a fresher and going to be staying in McIntosh (room C4) :)

Just a few wee questions about the kitchens. What are they like? (do I need to bring my own pots/pans for cooking at the weekend?) and how many people share a kitchen?

Hi! I'm a fresher and going to be staying in McIntosh (room C4) :)

Since I've been having a go at guessing what rooms like so far:
[l]
[li]C4 A shared room situated on the first floor (C-floor) opposite Main Staircase (so one of the nearest rooms to the front door). The room is reasonablely sized. Next door is the C-floor study room, so noise could cause you a few arguments with attentive students. The window gives a good view straight down Hope Street.

C-floor kitchen is shared by all residents of the 42 rooms of C-floor (C2-C43). Although pots and pans were placed there by the Hall Committee, they often vanish or are dirty, so it is adviseable to bring your own basic set for cooking. The kitchen itself is in split into two "rooms" (with no door between them), each with a fridge (no freezer), a four hob cooker (with grill and oven) and a sink. A microwave, kettle and ironing board (and iron) is provided in one of the two "rooms".

I think I had the rooms numbers correct on C-floor. But, my information is a few years old, and the University resently has kept adding new rooms here and there (there were little changes since the rooms were last renumbered in 1977/1978 until late 1990s), so chances are that it will be a room converted from something else. It will definitely exist.

As far as I can recall C45 is one of the new rooms located to the left of the main stair door on C floor. You'll have a view onto North Street / a tree.

lovely big single room of A30 is the only adjacent bedroom.

Yes it IS a lovely room isnt it. *grins*
