Hall Yearbook

Postby pea on Sat Oct 01, 2005 10:00 am

I had a thought the other day. What do people think of having a hall yearbook this year? It would be kind of like the Chattan Directory of years gone by, but with a wee profile and picture of everyone in hall, bits about hall events through the year, random drunken photos (aren't those the best?) "Most Likely to..."/"Least Likely to..." and anything else you can think of.

So basically I just want to get an idea of who would be interested in either helping make one or buying one?

The only thing I'm not sure about is whether it would be as part of Charities or a seperate thing altogether...

Why not ask the committee?

dont want to put a dampner on your brill idea, but have you looked into the price of binding such a thing? we made one at school, and let me tell you it wasnt cheap, also they amount of work involved is collossal, i ended up doing my year book pretty much by myself! it is what always happens.

I would buy one, but never do i want to go down the road of having to help put it together ever agin.

great idea, but only if you can get people who are serious about it.

Definitely come to the next committee meeting.

Perhaps you could ask Ewan about making it a sort of Electronic yearbook so as to avoid the costs of binding??

"Electronic" - i sound like an old person!

I was editor of my yearbook at school so I know the work and costs involved. We used The Homework Diary Company and they were excellent and made a fantastic job of it. We only charged around £10 for a book if I remember, maybe £15.

If we have a dedicated group of people working on it and can work out how to pay for it/how much to charge/whether it'd be as part of the charities thing then I think it could really work.

But yeh, I'll come along to the next meeting to put my idea forward.

PS, If anyone is interested in helping me out, email me - rg41 (if this can't be put up then by all means remove it)

If you want to do it really cheaply you could do it yourselves.

The general office in the union has a comb binder if i remember correctly.

(edited cos I can't type!)
