So, after reading this, does anyone else think we're getting shafted for noise complaints again? I'm not so naive as to think that the hall at large doesn't cause excessive noise from time to time. But considering that a large proportion of Hope street/Howard place is inhabited by students, Why is it that we exclusively get done over for it? I was walking down the street on friday about 1PM, and there was a student party in one of the flats with the windows wide open. You could hear the music at the other end of the street! I've also seen a number of people who were in hall last year, often the ones guilty of causing disturbances, living in flats in hope street now. It's at least arguable that we're not the sole cause of distress to residents (that is, unless they're distressed by the discussions of base attack bonuses and prestige classes on wednesday evening.)

yea, I see your point,
Hope Street it's self would seem to make far more noise than our hall does,
but hay, 'em the breaks,
we (as in hall) will always be blamed for the noise, cause we're the people they want to blame.
Best why do deal with it, is to just give 'em nothing to complain about.

Yes but did you not read that it was more about the noise on the steps this time? You can't deny that that's most likely due to actual residents of hall.

You need something to deter people from hanging about on the steps.

I suggest positioning something foul smelling and anti-social on the steps to discourage lingering by residents.

Paul had a word with me about this today. it's actually more to do with the fact people have been smack-talking people in hall on the steps in full earshot of everyone.

As for foul smelling things, we've had an abundance of people being sick in and around hall... why not direct them to the desired area of effect!

I think the "smelly and anti-social" was a dig at smokers.

Methinks a lot of the freshers are still of the age where "Social smoking" doesn't come across as a horrible Oxymoron.

Everyone knows "social smoker" is a euphemism for "I smoke 20 a day, but if i call it social smoking it makes me seem like less of a social leper"

What kind of cookie do I win XD
