Would some clever person like to try and work out all the returners to hall from hall? I know there was another thread but it didnt take into account non sinners. Heres what i've got:

The Data Protection Act, which the university is mad keen on, would not approve of posting people's names and information without their permision or knowledge. I'm going to delete the names of everybody who hasn't posted their own name.

Please don't post the names of other people who are coming back into hall. They will be deleted. If that person wants to tell us that they're coming back, then we can wait for them to do it.

What are you doing Cain thats over moderating to the highest standards.

Most of the people i put down are mates for a start so they wont give a fuck.

Secondly this isnt the University its the sinner there is no data protection for non members.

Thirdly this was meant so returning students could look at having a big fuck off party on the first day back. But now we have no list of names...

No, it is to the usual legal standards.

Most of the people i put down are mates for a start so they wont give a fuck.

Then get them to sign up and put their own names down.

Data Protection does not only exist if you are a member of a website - that would be ridiculous. Everyone is protected by the data protection act and therfore it is illegal to publish details about other people without their obvious knowledge or consent, ie if they posted here themselves.

The Sinner is responsible for any content on it's site and as such cannot break any of the laws in this country which include the Data Protection Act. Any moderator or admin on any online or offline resource would do exactly the same.

You cannot break the law.

I have consulted many, many, bottles of Jimmy, and they have all given their written permission for Dowg to advertise their future presence in hall. While we will be there, so shall they.

Data Protection going a little far when it is protecting bottles of whisky from common room consumption.

No, I don't think so.

Posting people's names and address on a message board is a bit too far. If they want people to know they'll be back in hall, they can post it there themselves. Recently a post was removed from the main board for the same thing, and I don't see why the hall boards should be different.

Jimmy (or should that be J**** M***** 12 year old deluxe blend?) deleted my memory, liver and stomach lining on many occasions but I've never seen it delete a moderator before. Maybe a whole bottle would do the trick. Gosh.

Anyway, all this taking offence on behalf of others and data protection nonsense is somewhat over the top, if you ask me.

it is not the job of a citizen to enforcer the law - it is the job of the police to police the law and the courts to judge people according to the law.

no-one likes a clipe or a spoil sport - it was all dont in good faith - stop being such anal baw-bags.
