Is there any GOOD reason to vote for anyone this week?

If they are indeed the best person for the job then vote for them but if not Re Open Nominations.

VOTE R.O.N.

Looking at the RON support groups on Facebook, the one constant seems to be that a lot of people don't like elections. Voting RON - and so trying to ensure more elections - seems to be a very odd position to take in such circumstances. Oh and the other reason seems to be that the Association didn't publicise the elections enough. I'm sorry but - first years aside - there cannot be a student who doesn't know that Association elections are held in March.

I love elections, but if there is only ONE candidate then it is not an election is is a co-option via disinterest.

And how is voting RON going to increase interest? If a RON victory should ever come to pass, it's more likely to put people off standing. Nobody will want to stand in case they are humiliated. It's one thing to lose to a rival candidate; it would be quite another to be told that you're not even the best candidate in a one horse race. Also, if only one person stands for a position in the original election it is likely that he or she would be the only one to stand in a re-run election.

The outcome of the R.O.N. victory in Chattan last year was me: a senior student that really wanted the job, and was qualified to do it. As opposed to two candidates who weren't really fussed.
