The original purpose of RON was to make every otherwise unopposed candidate for Executive posts fight an election. It was designed to protect them from the common cry of "you weren't really democratically elected as you were unopposed". It serves no function when there are multiple candidates.

I meant that no thought was given - when RON was introduced - by the Association as to what would happen in the event of a RON victory. I didn't meant that the voters in the election just gone had given it no thought. Sorry, I should have made that clearer.
