Whilst that's a good thing to tell freshers, i'm not sure on its truth.

yeah, i wouldn't say it's the truth either. you don't really have to work in first year. obviously, hand in your essays and work on your presentations but, if you're generally interested in IR, in first year you don't really need to do much reading and you'll be fine.

Doesn't it rather depend how much knowledge you want to take with you when you get to the more difficult courses, and how prepared you may want to be for the step up in what will be asked of you? If we assume a student doesn't become vastly more intellectually gifted between their first and fourth year, surely the most prudent course is to try to do a good deal of work in sub-honours, for exactly those reasons.

Only legitimate subjects can be regarded as hardcore. A degree in simply reading the news and being American does not qualify, sorry.

Given your apparent desire forceably to sodomise a doorman with some article of clothing, I hardly think you're qualified to comment on, well, anything, really.

I do believe your waxed cowboy hat would look a lot better up your arse. And that's saying something because it looks pretty shitty already. Hang about...

How charming you are! The idea behind this board is the seeking and provision of advice, you know, not slanging matches...
