Thank you everyone the help has been great, but I still haven't had any letter. But glad to find out they are orrering people backup's because if they didn't it would be awful. Anyway thanks again and hopefully i will get the letter tomorrow and get in somewhere, am so worried i don't care where.

Im there now, you will hate the isolation. There is hardly any interaction between flats, let alone between floors or buildings.

There is a complete lack of any central structure if you have any complaints, and the warden is never in when you phone. This situation will ceontiune untill 2005/06 when the building wirk is completed.

There are no facilites on hand, nothing atall. Fife Park is the laundry and "reception".

In conclusion, for first years, DRA is the worst hall to be in. Even after that, I never want to live here again.

I wouldnt say DRAs the worst place to live.
Yeh, there are the disadvantages e.g, when you go out at night and have to get taxis home bcoz you'd never even make it to Hepburn Gardens in one piece (or your shoes are butchering your feet!). Everyone else can walk (stagger) home in 5 minutes (plus saving them sooo much more money).
Or, the crazy idea of putting dishwashers in the flats instead of washing machines.
But at the end of the day, we are living in luxury compared to people in other halls . . . such a comfy bed to collapse on and relieve our aching limbs!

I'd rather live in another single hall. This place is causing me problems, but easter is near, then only 6 weeks. In first year, being confined to the same group of 4 other people at "home" is annoying after you get to know them all, as when you want to be alone, in DRA you can't. There is no where to go etc.

I'll manage.

My enthusiasm has now been somewhat thwarted. But I live in New Hall, where theres no interaction anyway, so I'm OK. Yay I got into DRA!

I'm in DRA- it's ok. The lack of social areas is made up for by the decent rooms, and you just go elsewhere if being sociable is on the cards. It's not too far from the science buildings, either, and the walk in is nice.

Ahh, memories of the field and the haystacks that drunken students had left on the footpath. Out of curiosity, do the rooms have TV's like New Hall and exactly how big are the en-suite facilities?

Yeh, they have T.Vs. The rooms are slightly larger than New Hall (from what I've seen of New Hall). En-suite is quite small tho.

Kitchen has the usual, plus a microwave & dishwasher. (And a kettle which we had to wait a month for at the start of september!)

Im in DRa and applied to new hall...didn't get in.

Anywho..Dra is alright...I highly recommend you buzz all other flats in your block to try and get a little interflat interaction as the flats are a bit isolated...you meet people from the flats on your course...

What annoyed me the most was the fact of how expensive this place is and how little facilities (aka none) we have. In DRA you learn to love to complain.
