Bramble, hope your flatmate is not too distraught by the news! Heard Fightstar on the radio the other day, keep up your Busted day job love. Not that that's any good either poor soul.

"The trio are seen as an alternative to more manufactured artists who are not considered credible musicians because they do not write their own songs or play their own instruments. "

that magical a chord they do by grabbing randomly at the neckof the guitar and jumping

you should be....... Only kidding, I vaguely know your flatmate from the Saint (we have the same position at the paper) 1st time I met her she disclosed her overwhelming love of Busted. Plus I live with a lovely tall lady that you share a subject with. Hope those are enough clues without anyone else being able to guess who we are!

It's ok, they're only taking a break while Charlie does a wee tour with Fightstar - I refuse to go into full mourning until they have a live press conference broadcast on Newsround in true Take That stylee!

And Johness, your post suggests you're a lot less of a fan than you let on to me... what was it you said? "I couldn't meet them because I would just faint"...? Something along those lines wasn't it?

Kisses!

Two words to describe this revelation; Thank Fuck.

A break from some of the inane tripe that pollutes the pop charts at the moment. Lets hope they stay on this break forever and ever and ever........

Anyone who thinks Busted, Mc Fly and all of these other pop abominations are any good should go on the net and find stuff by Dream Theater, Nightwish, Joe Satriani, Paul Gilbert, Steve Vai and the hundreds of other bands who actually play their own instruments. Then try telling me that they are any good.

Oh, and whats the point of releasing a live album that sounds *identical* to the studio album but with a crowd in the background? Can you say 'cynical ripoff' and 'lazy miming bastards'. I can!

FYI, Busted DO play their own instruments (whether they do so well is clearly a matter of opinion), they write or co-write the vast majority of their songs, they DO NOT mime (they resented being made to do so in their early days due to the calibre of Saturday morning kid's TV shows they were being booked on) and their live album IS live (I would know, I have listened to all of their albums religiously and the studio versions of their songs are clearly distinguishable from those on the live album).

So... feel free to say Busted are shite or whatever you feel, eveyone is entitled to an opinion, but get your facts straight first.

Oh so you've listened to them loads then? I mean enough to compare different albums? I'm sensing a closet fan here!!

My little sister listens to them and has reliably informed me that the only differences between the live and studio versions are 1. the crowd and 2. one of the guys is 'singing' slightly out of tune. If you want a real live album theres Dream Theater 'Live Scenes From New York'. Truly a live album.

And if Busted play their own instruments then I'm Maggie Thatcher!!!!!! Having seen them on S&MTV and TOTP 'live' I can safely say they don't (I'm a guitarist myself btw).

Far beit from me to defend that questionable music that busted produce, but they can play instruments and they do.
I am almost embarresed to say this, but from what I have heard of the guys new band 'Fightstar', I can say its not bad at all. Despite the shit name its certainly a step in the right direction

Dear Mrs Thatcher, I may not be a guitarist but I believe non-guitar players may, too, be able to deduce whether a band is playing their own instruments. Busted have busked on the street with their guitars and played Jo Whiley's Live Lounge (the clue is in the name) so I think it's a lost argument to suggest they do not play their own instruments.

As for the live album, I'm not quite sure I understand what your problem is. They are performing songs which have almost all been on previous albums and I don't know how on earth they could do them wildly differently unless they were really so unspeakably bad live (were completely out of tune or whatever) that the songs they were singing weren't even recognisable. I hardly think they can be criticised for being able to perform their songs roughly to the standard of the studio versions. The live album may be a bit of a cash cow but that doesn't mean it's inherently awful, many of Busted's fans are young and can't afford/aren't allowed to go to their concerts; the live album gives a suitably faithful impression of the Busted live experience. If the fans are willing to buy the live album and enjoy listening to it then I don't see a problem. At the end of the day, Busted are not trying to be considered in the same league as the bands you mentioned and I'm not suggesting they should be so there is no point in comparing them. They are a fun band aimed at a young market and in those terms they are good at what they do.

*slinks past*

Busted are good, I have seen them live though not in their own concert yet (just Top of the Pops and Live and Loud) because they are never at a suitable time and I'm missing the Fightstar concert my sister is going to too...

But McFly definately suck big time because Tom has the most awful voice but virtually never lets any of the others sing...

You can blame McFly for my current extremely hyper mood, their music is too bouncy....

Whether busted actually play their own stuff is very debatable im sure but the fact is they are commerical shit. Three guys picked so a music company can make money off little girls and confused young boys. Fuck that completely!

Talentless hacks and believe me talentless - what decent guitarist doesnt include a guitar solo in a song or at least a riff! Some may think this is guitar snobbery but your lying if you think three chords can beat the impressive mastery of a proper guitar solo. I believe that any busted fan has a limited music range because anyone with a decent taste can clearly see its all bullshit. Sure it may be fun to "listen" to and possibly make fun of but die hard busted fans need to get out and see what real music is all about!
