A source close to Rogue Productions told me that the people who control iMovie had expanded too much and were struggling to keep everything in check, and so there would be no iMovie for St Andrews.

Which is kind of rubbish, considering i was actually going to make a film this year.

I wonder if there would be an electronics firm willing to lend some equipment for people to work on?

iMovie 2005

Postby Ben Hecking on Wed Jan 19, 2005 2:47 pm

Hi. I should probably explain what is happening with iMovie this year, I'll try and keep it brief but there is quite a lot to take in so....

Firstly the guys in the states are running it in two locations - Atlanta and Boston which means the camera couldn't be freed up until the mid-end of April so we wouldn't be able to start filming until then, pushing the night back into exam time - Not good!

Secondly a lot of people complained about the organisation of the event last year, the mistakes that happened on the night with sound and things and the presenters (myself included who basically didn't have much of a clue)

Also the fact that there are few, namely me, who are still at University who actually helped organise the first event and I'm too busy to devote much time to it.

So the plan is this - we are going hold iMoveFest in the first semester of next year (a shame for you fourth years I know) and spend this next semester organising it. We will then launch it to you guys who are still at uni before the summer so that you can think about films and launch it for the Freshers at Freshers week and have a launch event the following week. (I hope that makes some sense to you all)

We are very sorry about it, but doing it this way just makes it all a bit easier from our end.

Hope to see you making films next year.
