Well, Telnet describes you as "Undergraduate - Interrupted", if that's any help.

Oh, thank you - though now I feel rather like Winona Ryder.

But when doesn't one, what? Woof!

You'll see.

Well, I'd expect no less than a public display. You'd best employ several Large Men for protection - the St Andrean public is a jealous one and will stop at nothing to rob you of your homour.

When one looks in the mirror, I find. Although eye-shadow can work wonders if applied correctly.

The John Honey Award is a pretty fuck-off big piece of silverware, as it happens. I don't plan on letting any ruffians near enough to it to even consider bringing in the heavies.

You are still a matriculated student, are you not?

Could somebody tell me - am I still a matriculated student? I matriculated at the start of the 2004/2005 academic year, and went on temporary leave of absence on the 30th of November 2004. Am I still matriculated? If I am, when do I cease to be so?

I note that your facebook profile calls you an alumnus, which isn't quite true.

And if facebook can lie, I don't know what to believe.

That depends on your definition of 'alumnus'. If you regard it as synonymous with 'graduate', then, yes, Mr Renouf is not an alumnus of St Andrews. If you regard it as meaning 'former student', however, then it is perfectly allowable.

Indeed it does. Apparently it's from the latin for foster-child, and my dictionary defines it as a pupil or student in relation to his place of education. That would suggest that we are all alumni. Huzza!

And it makes me alumnus Universitatis Oxoniensis, which rocks.

Albeit just a shade misleading in this day and age, you'll be claiming aegrot next in the manner of Sellars and/or Yeatman.

Back to the Thesis topic, I hear Ralph's submitted; Eliot, have you?

In all honesty, I singularly fail to comprehend in what way it could possibly be any of your damned business who has or has not submitted their thesis. I'd advise you to give thought to getting a first degree.

For students of the curious, no, I haven't submitted yet; my supervisor is currently reading my final draft, following which I will submit asap; hopefully around the end of this month or beginning of the next. Following which you will all be warmly encouraged to start a write-in campaign to the Reformation Studies Institute, demanding that the ground-breaking, nay, seminal, work "The restoration of monasticism in England under Mary Tudor" be made available in paperback (£9.99 from all good bookshops).

I think I'll wait for it to appear on the big screen. I've discovered that all contracts for books tend to come with a rider about signing away the movie rights.

I'd bet that "The Restoration of Monasticism in England" will do about as well as "The Magistrates of Roman Sicily" at the box-office. (That said "Magistrates II: The Quaestors Strike Back" is a much darker and haunting tale; however, I doubt it'll ever see the light of day).

Why not make the second one first, in a George Lucas Star Wars stylee?

That's cheap.
No-one this side of the Atlantic (or Pacific, come to think of it) is crazy enough to employ me. It would be like that time I worked in a Nigerian hospital; it blew up.

Indeed. Look out for my upcomming Crash Course Anatomy 3: Straight for the Jugular, starring Christian Bale and Morgan Freeman and marking John Stewart's movie debut.
