Hey I hope that there is someone out there that can help me out, my flatmate and I are trying to network our home computers, but for some reason it isn't working. We have tried out ISP and the makers of the modem/router that we have but they haven't been able to help. If anyone out there thinks that they may be able to help than please email me on kjs8

Need a few more symptoms of the problem before I can offer an diagnosis.

When we try and use the modem/router that we have to connect to the internet it doesn't work/register as being connected. The means that we can only use the internet on one computer at a time at the moment. We have put all the correct details into the router when we set it up so we know that that isn't the problem. Basically we are at a loss and just need some help. If there is someone out there who thinks that they may be able to help and doesn't mind coming to our flat then that would be even better.

Still not really enough information.

Please supply details of ISP
Router Design
Packet Forwarding Protocol (if any)
One IP shared or multiple IP's alocated?

etc etc

I had a similar problem, try switching the router to WIFI b mode. It is overall more compatible with different cards.

I am with Tiscali, there are two computers using the network, but they both have different IPs. What do you need to know about the router design? As far as I know there isn't a Packet Forwarding Protcol, but then again I could be wrong.
Could you please tell me how to switch the router to WIFI b mode so that I can try that?
One possible problem is that when I have tried to configure the router online it has asked for my ISP but only given AOL and BT as the options-I'm not sure if this should make a difference or not.

I take it you bought the one from eBuyer that I linked to a few weeks ago? The one with an integrated USB print server?

Can you tell us what it says on the front page of the router's web page when you connect to it?

That isn't the one that I have, my router is a PTI-840 from dabs. When I go onto the net to register the router the first thing that you get is a sign in page.
The main problem is though that to connect to the internet the modem/router doesn't seem to want to act as a modem. We can register it if we use the provided modem and then connect the router/modem. However, it just won't connect the two computers together as if we try to use the modem/router on its own as explained in the information booklet all we get is the message that it isn't connected to the phone line even when it is.

Well you need to got to your router admin, either via a dedicated program or via a browser connecting to the router IP address. There should be an option for WIFI mode under LAN settings somewhere. What manufacturer is your wireless router?

Its not a wireless router, its a wired router made by Paradigm Technology Inc.

Actually I've setup one just like that before, what I'll have to do it download a copy of the manaul so I can given you more detailed instructions. But now I need to go to lectures.
