Yep. My real name's Caroline - which one of the guys were you? (am assuming you asked because you worked there yourself :P)

I cant believe people are moaning about the DRA bar!
You've got a reasonable bar in your hall of residence, what could be better.
In my day I would've given my left arm and indeed my right arm for a bar in our hall of residence, provided someone else was on hand to hold my glass and tip the beer into my mouth at a sensible rate.
*flashback*
My first year was in the DRH of old, now consigned to myth and legend. If anyone had dared suggest that DRH could've done with a bar, people would've been outraged: 'for gods sake man, there are people dieing out there... theres silverfish in the rooms... the food is prison standard... the coverings over the inter-block walkways are blowing off and no-one is going to fix them ... because nobody cares... dont you understand??' said ranter would probably then be struck by a particularly spiteful bought of phlegmy coughing, and would most likely die that same evening, in a cold dark and dank little room.

Anyway, you cant compare the DRA bar to the union, as the DRA bar does not smell like a farmyard.

There was a (albeit small) bar in DRH. It was in the Nisbet room but they only opened it in the summer for the conferences. And you forgot to mention the short and curly hairs to be found in said prison standard food.

Hey, i've been sitting here with my flatmate reading all his stuff and we think it would be better if more events were put - like, how about inter-block games?

For instance a pub quiz where flats from Forbes are pitted against flats from Scott? We've got a pretty good communal spirit here in Scott (we also had the idea of paint-ball or ZappZone-style games involving each block in DRA being used as a base but that might be kinda hard to organise)

we like the bar, one cos it's not too loud - but i was kinda annoyed when i paid £4.40 for 2 pints, but we can live with it i guess. and then again, there is the feeling that it's a bit deserted - hopefuly this might change in time.

there may have been something else i wanted to say but i cant remember right now so...um cya!

You really think you have all the answers don't you!?! Well perhaps rather than critacising you should try being supportive. It is not that expensive compared to the other pubs around st-andrews and it is better to have a bar than none at all. All in all your coment is just another wise ass remark from some-one who knows jack s**t.

How come the DRA bar is much more expensive than the union. Do they get pack horses to ship the beer from the union to the facilities building or something?

And how small is Steve the barman, he can barely see over the bar. Tis mildly commical.

Sexy Men? i've not seen any, nor many sexy women, i think if business picks up then we should start to have a ban on all those who don't make the grade, if you know what i mean.

Wasn't the original point that the complainant didn't like the prices, as opposed to the infinitely many factors that have been thrown into this thread?

I think the original points were 'It's too expensive' rather than 'our bar generally sucks', which it clearly doesn't.

The original points made reflected on the fact that the DRA bar is run by the union, but isn't priced like the union. This is what some people don't like, not the appearance, fitness of the men / women / coagulated virii, lack of goings on, ability to hear yourself talk, deserted - however rather tasty - bistro, ad infinitum.

You like the bar 'cos it's not too loud', and hope that it might become less deserted. Hmmmm, I'm struggling.

Still, power to the Scott Block.
