Madras Kids

I was talking to the Big issue guy. The one who stands near Monsoon and Subway in the alley way place, and he told me that the Madras school kids throw things and spit at him. He's not allowed to retaliate. Apparently it's only the kids from Madras (where they should really know better) who he gets abuse from. How do we save bug issue seller?

I was standing outside with some of my mates in S3, and some drunk students ran up, 'hid' behind a van, and started throwing things at us. Then they ran away when a gaurd came towards them.

This whole town could stand to grow up a bit, I feel.

Yes, I've heard the rumours and stories, but throwing sticks and rubbish at the gaurds because you're drunk and forget your ID card? Come now, that's been the rule for as long ages, not to mention the fact that it's illegal for a drunk person to be in a bar.

I was walking down said street one day a few years back, and observed some of the bucky brigade hassling the guards at the Vic. The guards told them to bugger off, and bugger off they did, but head ned knocked back the last of his tonic-wine and lobbed the bottle over his shoulder (without looking) in the direction of the doormen at the Vic. The doormen had their backs turned and it missed them only by inches (certainly brought them round sharpish though)... And as per usual, the CCTV camera was pointing the wrong way.
Unfortunately, shooting is too good for some people, it doesn't learn them their lesson. I hereby suggest that such scum on the face of society be given a good old-fashioned trip to the stocks, where they be fastened securely for a day and have the general public be allowed to taunt them, call them "HAW YOU SPECCY C*NT" and throw various items at them.

It is true that before the locals get bitchy about drunk university students they should look at what there own kids are doing. Also since everybody wears track suits why is it that Scotland has the highest rate of heart problems in Europe? Surely they must be exercising.

I'm sure they will threaten that if anyone is seen doing this, there will be serious repurcussions - if you suggest it.

The majority of Madras kids are nice, decent, ordinary teenagers so don't blame the whole school for the actions of a silly few. There are twats in every group of people whether it be Madras school kids or St Andrews students.

Every school in the country is the same. Most of the kids are fine but there a few who belong in jail. Its the exact same with St Andrews students. Just because some are selfish rude arrogant arseholes and give us such a bad name amongst the locals it doesn't mean we all are.

Having worked locally over the past couple of years I've made friends with lots of Madras kids and found them to be as funny, polite and intelligent as my student friends (some even more so). They also get pissed off at the few arseholes at their school but take comfort in the fact that most of them will leave as soon as they hit 16. They get more pissed off though when they hear students muttering about 'horrible, scummy Madras kids' when they know nothing about Madras or the people who go there.

I'm sure you hate it when people automatically assume negative things about you because you're a student so please don't do the Madras kids the same disservice.

I'll second what smiley has to say, the majority of kids are just, well, kids, and its the few bad ones that mean they all get tarred and feathered with the same brush. I still say corporal punishment is the only way forward for the scummy little buckfast drinking shits though (who probably don't even go to school, they revel in their illiteracy)
