What does St Andrews need most?

Postby Bitterandtwisted on Wed Nov 16, 2005 1:26 pm

Bowling alley?
Ice rink?
Nightclub?
something else?

If you were on the Council and could approve any one project, what would it be?

We've had this thread in the past but im still not changing my opinion that St Andrews could really do with having a decent music store - preferably a Fopp or Avalanche store.

Burger King! Although a Domino's Pizza would be nice too. Food aside, a Virgin megastore would be good too.

Having said all that, I do like the idea of a bowling alley, decisions decisions! Can't we have them all?

Do we not have enough places that you could pick up a pizza like?

I might actually have to kill myself (possibly through eating their food), if a BK was built here though. Huge neon BK sign would totally ruin the mise-en-scene of the town.

Why would you want a Virgin megastore when Fopp and Avalanche stock everything they do, plus more, for a cheaper price?

ASDA's.

Good cheap food and better than Morrisons and our puny Tesco.

no more large chain coffee shops, and close down Starbucks while there's only the one of them. definately no burger kings or mcdonalds, the awful bright colours and huge signs would destroy the image of the town. no onlt that but real chips would be a thing of the past and we would be stuck eating "fries" for the rest of our lives.

i think a bowling alley would be pretty good to have in town but a karting track would be a great thing to have here.

either that, or a decent paintball area nearby.

I still stand by a Marks & Spencers foodhall, as I think I said in another thread like this.

And a train station.

Could we possibly NOT turn St Andrews into yet another anonymous British market town? The local shops and services are one of our biggest assets, and I'd hate to see them threatened by the march of the huge chain shops. Anyway, Dundee's only a short hop away by bus.

Such as Subway, Tesco, Morrisons, Somerfields, Shell, Currys, WH Smith, Monsoon, Starbucks, Costa, Boots, Semichem, Birthdays, Ottakars, Fat Face, New Look, Woolworths... ...oh, wait... I'm afraid it has already happened
