Mermaids does not do plays. We fund them and supply resources and assistance.

Anyhoo, the plays I've heard about so far are:

The Rise and Fall of Little Voice (Venue 2 in December) AUDITIONS SOON

The Handmaid's Tale [devised] (venue unconfirmed, in December) AUDITIONS SOON

The Tempest (venue unconfirmed, in March) AUDITIONS SOON

The Sorcerer - G&S Society (Venue 1 / Byre in March / April) AUDITIONS LATER

Plays For A Pound [rehearsed readings of all first / second year drama texts with a permanent repertory company of about 15] AUDITIONS SOON

The KK Panto (Venue 1 in December) AUDITIONS IN OCTOBER

How do you find out when auditions for plays are? Also how come many plays for this year are cast so early? I'd really like to audition for stuff even though I've never done it before.

Dear Jiang,

Auditions are always posted on the Drama Noticeboard on the top floor of the Union, and occasionally at the Library. Alternatively, e-mail mermaids@st-and.ac.uk and we'll stick you on our weekly e-mail list, with updates on all shows, workshops, auditions and socials.

Some shows auditioned in May for this year because they are on bloody early (eg. "Gary Lineker" in 3 weeks!), so need time to prepare. Don't worry, there's still about 40 shows a year, so there's bound to be something for you!

Auditions are being held soon for:

Blind Mirth, the improv comedy troupe

"An Inspector Calls" by J.B.Priestley, a Christian Music and Drama project

"Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?" by Edward Albee

"Othello" by William Shakespeare

PLUS - the first play of term is on Wednesday 9th October at 4:00 in Venue 2 - a rehearsed reading of "Everyman". Only £1!
