Neither "Wimpey" nor "Whimpy", but "Wimpy"

"an iconic British brand"

Named of course after the great J. Wellington Wimpy, the perpetual hamburger eater from the Popeye cartoons.

Just incase no one else can: I remember when we had a Wimpey in St Andrews.

i doubt there'll ever be any big fast food chains in this town. i heard the guy that owns PM's is influential is always blocks any applications. just a rumour i heard a while back though and probably far from the truth.

i never heard that one. but then when i heard the mcdonalds one i dont think aikmans even had a late license (i never went there, too expensive). it wouldnt really surprise me though.
maz: there already is another post office unless its closed in the last few months. useless for all the people who stay in town/halls but i find the one between kinnessburn road and lamond drive (i think its on pipeland road) is good.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the community council have no powers to block an application because of who the company is, what their business practices are or how multinationally global they are anyway. They are only concerned with "matters of signage, litter and retail space". Anyway, St Andrews is already chock full of national chains, I don't know who anyone is kidding that there is something special about it's shopping experience.
