All in all, I'd say I prefer electrons to people.

Because they're rich and have daddy's oodles to spend.

The statements I've heard that the KK doesn't recruit only rich boys is utter sh*te. All of you are better off than the national average, and quite a lot have left due to things associated with this.

OH NO! SOMEONE HAS MORE MONEY THAN ME, IT MUST MAKE THEM TERRIBLE PEOPLE!

It's not people with bags of money that annoy me, as much as the sniping whingers as personified by "scratter" who cannot but resist mentioning "daddy's money" and inisnuating there is something intrinsically wrong with people with a few more bucks than average.

I hate people with more money than me, it means they can do things I can't, they can go on holidays all summer while I have to work, they can live in big comfortable flats while I'm living in Fife Park, they can cruise through University buying whatever they want, whenever they want it, while I am busy applying for hardship loans and working 4 part-time jobs just to be able to buy dinner.

But yeah, it's not their fault they're all cunts.

I completely agree. I hear the words 'daddy's money' far more often in St Andrews in sarcastic conversation than I do from people actually being sincere. In fact I don't think that I have ever heard any reference to 'daddy's' financial situation in genuine conversation.

Yes its annoying when people can afford to live in nice houses and travel abroad 25 times a year, but it does not make them bad people, just very lucky. You can be proud of the fact that you are independant of your parents and fund yourself, and they can count themselves lucky that they have such generous, wealthy parents. Everyone is happy.

At the end of the day we are all here to get a degree, and that doesn't come any easier to one person than it does another.

I've asked this before, but I'll ask it again...

To those who think there's something wrong with some students having more money than others can you provide answers to:

a) what IS an acceptable amount of money for a student to have?

b) would you cap only students or everyone?

C) what business is it of yours?

It's not about how much money you have, it's how much money you show off to other people.

Edit: That is not an attack against the KK or it's members. To be honest, I couldn't give a toss about them, and, I expect, nor they me.

Something around the income above which there is no increase in happiness or life satisfaction, according to a lot of research. I'll find the figures.

b) would you cap only students or everyone?

Everyone.

C) what business is it of yours?

Anyone can exhibit moral disapproval. To do anything about moral bankrupcy is no-one's business but the bankrupt, though.

The perfect answer lies of course, in robots.

Once robots can do all of the work that people do in the service industry, and all the work people do in the industrial sector, people will naturally all be happy.

Until the war...

...Just be thankful there's only one KK?

More to the point, if they didn't exist, I for one would miss not only the events etc but also the universal resentment towards them that can make for excellent common ground in any conversation.

It pisses me off people who bitch about other people having more money than they do and automatically therefore think they are pricks because of it. What's wrong with parents who have worked hard, got some money, wanting to support their kids through uni? Money is there to be spent and you might as well spend it when you have it, coz it can be there today and gone tomorrow. Also this crap about capping the amount of money that people can have at uni is absolutely ridiculous!

As for the KK, people slagging them off shouldn't tar everyone with the same brush. There are nice guys in the KK who think of themselves as no better than anyone else. Give them a break!
