Cafe India

Hi does anybody know what cafe india is like? Food ok? When is the student deal on, of a 3 course meal and 2 drinks for £9.95, is it every night, or just some? Is it big enough for a group of 10 or so? Thanks!

The food is nice enough, the nan bread is lovely, but the chilli sauce is a bit thin - everything else is good though.

Its a reasonably big place, if you're wanting to see it, you could go along to book and you'd see the resturant at the same time.

I can't remember what the prices are like, but I've found delivery to be cheaper than Jahanger.

as I understand it, the Reiver is owned by the same people, and the curries at the Reiver are pretty damn adequate. Cheap alternative?

Cafe India has some decent deals on though. Got a meal for two for £14 and it had poppadoms with chutney, veggie pakoras, two pilau rices (not little ones either - full size), a naan and two full size basic curries (like madras, korma etc.) Did me and my flatmate for dinner for two nights so worked out at only £3.50 a meal each - rather reasonable for a take-out curry me thinks.

Their student special is only during term time.

I wouldnt take someone important there... the food is great, but the place itself is a bit of a dive...

That said, drunken curries in the Riever are amaaaazing!

I love Café India - I used to eat at least twice a week there. By the end of the year I basically had my own table and didn't have to tell them what I wanted. :P

Great place, and good people too!
