I really wish people would stop thinking that Glasgow is this violent, harsh place. Full of unwashed and uneducated. Its no worse than any big city with good parts and bad parts. And England is not full of louts, but it does have its share.

I quite agree - it seems that Manchester was the place for muggings and ASBOs last year, moreso even than London.

Oh, and Alex, I for one agree with you about the English bashing amongst Scots.

And you know me well enough to know it pisses me off as well :)

P.S. What like was Japan? Send us an email

Funky flunky munky...
So someone asked me "What is it you do?". I thought about it for a minute. Then I thought about it a little more. All the while I probably looked like I was staring in to space, struggling for an answer. And I was. There was only one response I could really give.

"I make sure the shit stays off the fan."

Okay, so my attempt to make sure the thread didn't turn into Scotland v England failed slightly...all I meant to say was that he's a great Scottish athlete so Scotland can be proud, but he also represents Britain in some tournaments and the British Tennis Club put up the money to get him a new coach which has definitely improved him as a player.

Btw Otis, what do you mean by 'Fan Dan'? Are you abbreviating Krankies catchphrases?

most english people i have met are sound as a pound i think it is a personality thing rather than a nationality thing. A wanker is a wanker no matter where he is from .

although i can't stand social climbers who think they are better than they are, usually purchasing a large pair of sunglasses to make up for thier fucking small brains.

Thank fuck someone said something sensible. It's hilarious to see the argument got kicked off by someone who hoped the thread wouldn't turn out like another (infamous) thread about the exact same arguments found here. Very diplomatic, nice job.

Whatever, Murray is a good tennis player. Yay!

Well I'd rather start a war than be an IR student. 's not my problem if saying things that are true kicks off an argument.

OK, to try (probably in vain) to drag this thread back to the subject of Andy Murray, instead of it being yet another Scotland v England argument:

He won again! Into the quarter finals. But just. Thought he was dead and gone half way through the third set, he seemed to have run out of energy entirely after all the big games he has had. If anything, the comeback he pulled of in those circumstances probably ranks up there with beating Federer in importance: it shows that not only is he good, but he is gaining the stamina / strength required to win a number of matches on the trot. Great stuff. I wonder whether he can keep it up tomorrow?
