They are designed to allow soldiers to shit/piss. Each NBC suit is designed to allow 24 hours in the field. I don't know about you but I couldn't hold in a piss for that long

They set up piss tents or the like which are clean areas.

Also, re:drinking. The respirator has a drinking straw. Not sure how beer would taste through it though, water tastes shite.
