Bands you didn't expect to like but do...

Welcome to the RockSoc board, it gets worse here every day... talk about RockSoc, rock music, plain rocks or other silly irrelevant drivel. All are welcome: members & non-members, of the past, present & future.

Bands you didn't expect to like but do...

I just thought it would be interesting to see if anyone (like me) has ever pre-judged a band and decided they're not to your taste, but ended up really enjoying them?

For me, there's at least a couple, like;

She Wants Revenge, Katatonia, Dimmu Borgir(!) and Paradise Lost.

How about the rest of you?

Fall Out Boy and My Chemical Romance.

Yes, I admit I tarred them with the "stupid emo fag" brush.

lol...i actually gave my chemical romance a chance, I just dont like them.

I have to be honest, going back a few years I couldn't stand metal without clean vocals, and on first glance thought pantera were awful....hehe...they're in my top 5 bands now!!

I totally misinterpreted that as that Welsh band...

I suppose I thought Trivium were bound to be talentless twats but they have some good stuff.

Before that...I dunno, I'm usually good at know what I like...Manson? Metallica?

Didn't think I'd like Deathklok but surprisingly I think they are pretty good! Shame they're not an actual band :(

Bah! Could say that about Spinal Tap!

Dethklok are real enough- they've got an album coming out and they're in Guitar Hero II- real enough for me!

I suppose I have to reassess Slayer them from the "sucks" to "is alright" column now shared with Trivium and previuosly Iced Earth before their promotion to the "frickin' awesome" grouping.

i have to agree with paradise lost, they really are pretty good. also after a substantial part of my life pretending that i didnt like cradle of filth because everyone else liked them, and "i'm different...honest", "don't judge me" , "you dont know me" "don't pigeonhole me" etc etc etc, I gotta come clean and say that I really really do like the new album.
