Thank you to the 28 people who chaired, judged, sergeanted or dummied in the first round of the Courier (unfortunately that includes Tom!). Particular thanks has to go to Doug, for dummy speaking in four of the rounds, and other people who went to rounds at the last minute, Alex, Laura, Daniel, Miles, Lauren and anyone else who I've forgotten but you know who you are.
The draw for the second round has been released, and debates are taking place on the following dates, all of which are during exams or semester break:
Tuesday 16th January
Wednesday 17th January
Thursday 18th January
Tuesday 23rd January
Wednesday 24th January
Thursday 25th January (bear in mind TCD IV begins on Friday)
The motions are all fun and IR related.
If you would like to go to any of the second rounds please EMAIL me on svy by TUESDAY NIGHT. Please let me know which of the debates you can go to, and I'll try to find you a round to go to. People are needed to chair, sergeant and judge. There is a deadline because I would like to know who is going to these debates before Christmas, as my exams are still going on when the second round starts in January.
Other dates for your diary:
13th January: The Courier/ICYD training day is being held in St Andrews from 10.30-5. If anyone is free of exams that day and would like to help, please include this on your email.
20th January: ICYD. This is the St Andrews round of the International Competition for Young Debaters, and loads of judges are needed. It's being held in Dundee. If you are here on that day and are able to go, please email me.
Thanks
Sally
