Anyway if you think I actually properly know you then do tell me who you are as I wouldn't like someone I know to be offended by my comments.

It's not your comments that were my problem, it was more you actually citing someone as an example of Facebook "lies" that annoyed. Just because you might know that person's sexuality does not mean you have the right to broadcast it; if they want to keep it quiet on Facebook then let them.

Well that was a comment of mine then, don't be anal.

And what is so bad about outing someone (which I didn't do anyway, as it was relatively anonymous and I never said they were gay, just not totally straight, could be implying bi whatever).

Oh and stop being offended its so 20th Century.

People do fit into neat little boxes, by and large we can all describe ourselves as closely as we would need to do by listing perhaps half a dozen characteristics.

This is, empirically, nonsense, and would only be said by someone who in their own life has not encountered the sheer diversity of sexes and gender identities which exist.

That's an almost amusingly wrong conclusion.

It wasn't a comment, it was an example. As we already know, pedantry is the heart of the Sinner.

And what is so bad about outing someone (which I didn't do anyway, as it was relatively anonymous and I never said they were gay, just not totally straight, could be implying bi whatever).

Well outing someone who is not yet ready for the entire world to know about them is just wrong. It's forcing them to talk about something they would rather keep private or within a small circle of friends. You know who this person is, and you know what his sexuality is, and yet you can't make the connection between that private connection and the public face of someone on Facebook. You may think it's a silly thing to do, but the decision to out oneself is personal, not for an acquaintance or a friend to take.

And as for the "relatively anonymous" joke - what planet are you on? In the original post where you listed the details, you listed an extremely specific combination that could be used to target the exact person easily. Then when you further anonymised it, your second post actually had the person's name in it, no crappy asterisks, the person's name. Please tell me how was that relatively anonymous? Relative to creating a specific thread with that person's name as the subject and the first thread stating "... is not entirely straight"?

Oh and stop being offended its so 20th Century.

I'm not offended (even though your self-justification is offensive in itself), I'm more annoyed by your idiocy.

I stand by my earlier comment - you're a tool.

I'm beginning to get the feeling that "The Unwilling" is the person in question.

Unwilling isn't.

I have to say myself Midget, even now your supposed anonymisation isn't particularly anonymous. Really would extremely decent of you to just back down and delete the whole thing.

What I'm surprised (but not disappointed) at not being mentioned is absence of the following options:

"Interested in: Kiddies, Toddlers and Pre-teen"

I mean, illegal as it is: people should still be allowed to express their preference, right? Right?

Personally I think this group, and the thinking behind it, is a load of utter nonsense. If you read on through the message board, you'll note a discussion over which absurd, made-up pronoun it's appropriate to use for a transgendered person, and just how bigoted we ought to judge people who don't want their English language buggered up with such nonsense, thank you very much. Honestly, it's like a meeting of an NUS committee, all these oh-so-serious students casting desperately about for new and interesting people to 'include', lest the poor dears feel 'excluded' by things continuing on the way they did, and apparently worked pretty well, for centuries.

I also think Dr Alex is right that, whatever the so-called 'queer community' seems to think that word has come to mean, the fact is that it has negative connotations, and I reckon they must have been prety stupid to have adopted it in the first place. 'Queer theory'? My arse.

There should always be choice.

For instance, rather then saying whether I'm interested in men or women I'd like to be honest and say centaurs.
