Is anyone else finding it difficult to get signed in to webmail? I'm at work so it's not as if it's my crappy computer being silly.

I'd suggest, as I do every time webmail has problems, use Outlook or Thunderbird for e-mail.

For the past few days, my Thunderbird has had trouble signing into maila. No idea why, but webmail seems to work fine, even when Thunderbird doesn't.

"Michael Nowlan, director of information systems services at Trinity College Dublin, says there have been debates within the university about privacy and loss of control to Google."

Aaaaaah, I went to school with his daughter!! the world is a very small place. or maybe not. I know nobody else cares about this, but there you go.

I'd personally prefer it if they didn't. Google already has enough control over my data - while I do like a lot of their stuff, I'm still not entirely trustful of them.

As for the mail servers, they seem to be OK again today - I was having some trouble with maila the past few days, too.

Now some people weren't happy about the content of that last post. And we can't have someone not happy. Not on the internet.

Outlook Express is awful, but actual Outlook is very good.

The two reasons I don't use Thunderbird:

- It doesn't allow two-line display of subject and sender
- It crashes whenever I use it to search the University's LDAP directory

Both of which can be done by the resource-hungry and slightly messy Windows Live Mail beta, and Outlook (which I don't have). If someone can correct me on this and suggest a way of using Thunderbird for these functions, please do.

Edit: Incidentally, I'm finding the Windows version of Safari to be a total piece of shit.

To be fair to Apple (first time for me) it is in a very early public beta.
