Has there ever been an attack life this in Scotland before?

Well, I drove my car into a bridge once.

It's not a joke. I really did.

But no, not as far as I could ever remember hearing; this is a first - possibly today because security threat would be perceived to be in Edinburgh.

So someone asked me "What is it you do?". I thought about it for a minute. Then I thought about it a little more. All the while I probably looked like I was staring in to space, struggling for an answer. And I was. There was only one response I could really give.

So their car was on fire, and they tried to drive it into the terminal? And were on fire themselves?

I mean this is bad, of course, but if this is the best these guys can do, I'm not too terrified.

I read something about the car being full of molotovs. Looks like they went off premature

However, if that got into the terminal building, went up... We'd be talking MAJOR deaths, no terminal...

If it was their intention to suicide bomb the place, we should strap them with explosives and use them as a weapon ourselves.

Fox News are going a bit OMG!Sensationalist! and what i've seen from them is inconsisten with what eyewitnesses said to the Beeb.

Fox say that Hundreds fled screaming from the terminal , while somebody told the Beeb that the fire alarm went off and we thought it was a drill.

The responses on the BBC seem very understated and, well, British.

Not sure I would fancy being at the Diana concert this weekend, though it's good that the Gay Pride event in London seems to have gone off without a hitch.

BBC also have eyewitnesses saying people were watching the car on fire and running towards it to catch the drivers, not fleeing and screaming. Don't see hundreds on the photographs up on BBC either. Where do FoxNews get their information?

Delicious. So this and the London cars, coincidence? Thoughts and ops?

I've got 2-to-1 says unrelated events, Glasgow guys panicked when London guys got caught, wanted in.

Considering that the MOs are very different (yes, they both use cars, but that's it) I would be absolutely amazed if they're connected in any sensible way.

Well, looks like you were mostly wrong, and it is indeed a terrorist attack.

The lunatics are on the grass. Wonderful. And now Scotland pays - good luck to that pair of twats Salmond and Brown... they'll need it.

What?

Why are Salmond and Brown 'twats' explain?

Why is everyone getting so excited. No one has been killed, the London and Glasgow things were both pathetic failures.

Why would Gay Pride be targetted? It has very high levels of security so it would be pretty difficult. I went yesterday and didn't even think about terrorist threats.

Can we please get things in perspective you are more likely to get run over than you are to be the victim of a terrorist attack. So lets ban cars and stop all this ridiculous hysteria.

I am meant to be getting a train to Glasgow tomorrow morning and a flight from Glasgow to Dublin on Tuesday morning.

Bets on my chances of doing either?

I'd say it's a pretty safe bet that you'll do both with no bother whatsoever.

Wasn't it just petrol? There would have been a fire but not an explosion. Therefore it wasn't anywhere near as serious as what happened in London. It's a bit of an exaggeration to say it would have been a major incident.

So a petrol-ladden car crashing into a busy airport terminal and igniting wouldn't have been a major incident to you? Good lord I hope I'm not around if anything you'd call 'serious' happened.

No, I think he/she is simply opining that a car crashing into a building is unlikely to result in it burning to the ground, which appears to be exactly what happened. Now, if that car was also carrying a bomb, that would be a different story, but I don't think we have that information yet.
