The one thing I've always most disliked about the Sinner is the tendency toward argument for argument's sake...

but arguing is fun - why else would the internet exist?
i love the colours on the posters but there's no point to them (in the content that is) - they come across as totally random (fair enough ) and really pretencious

As for whether this is an ex-pat community... it seems that a lot of people from my time at St Andrews are still very active on here - including, to a lesser extent, myself. This lends itself to a lot of inside jokes, information, and meanings that have the effect of making this place somewhat confusing, intimidating, and insular to newcomers I would imagine.
I haven't any solutions, other than to say 'bugger off you old farts', but I don't want to say that, since it would be self-referential, after all.

"Pretencious"? Eh? Care to explain? Words too long or something?

iab2 pretty much said what I was thinking, but as anonymous2 has pointed out, big long strings of text can be difficult to read, so I ask the question.
That's a bit harsh, since this is not as serious as other people that I have seen online. I'm in a teaching forum where there is woman who doesn't know how to use punctuation....doesnt understand what a clause is sweeties....uses four dots to separate her points....doesn't make much sense at all sweeties xx
I've seen people who are so bad at typing that it's usually difficult to work out what they actually mean; their inarticulateness gets in the way of what they're trying to say.

I hold an element of surprise

Oh! that hidden irony strikes again. I'm always falling for that.
I call for an IRONY tag. And while we're at it, a sarcasm tag too!
