Tv Links Raided, and Owner Arrested

Personally, I think it's a brilliant thing, these pirate tv/film websites. The entertainment industry is already overpaid and living like royalty, while hard-working normal people can never afford the £6 billion mansion of their dreams!

What was it that they were doing illegal specifically?

That's one of my favourite bookmarked sites! Disappointed it's been taken down but it's not as though there aren't hundreds like it out there. Like Haunted said, where exactly has he broken the law? It was my understanding that it was the people who uploaded the copyrighted content that were at fault.

Well, according to the second link, they hosted films in particular that had been filmed with a camcorder in the cinema, which is how some films got onto the site within days of their theatrical release.

Aw I love tv-links. Pity it's down. Although it was completely illegal even though they tried to bullshit their way round it saying they don't host any tv shows. Providing access to illegal material is still illegal. The police could do you in for giving you the address of an illegal gun supplier, even if you don't have the gun.

As I understand it they were only providing the links to the material and not actually hosting it (which would be illegal).
So I'd like to know what they are actually being done for.

I don't think the copyright laws work like that. At least I have never seen it specifically mentioned that hosting links to copyrighted material is illegal.

The police could do you in for giving you the address of an illegal gun supplier, even if you don't have the gun.

Can they? Can I really get done for telling you that the bloke next door sells firearms?

alluc.org says

'You are now leaving allUC.org!

By clicking on "continue to content" you will be redirected to the Episode of your choice.
We have to point this out to make sure we can't be held liable for content uploaded by others.'

Don't know if that makes a difference at all but tv-links never came up with anything like that. it just took you to the site without a warning.

I tend to just use the ones that TVLinks redirected me to - especially the DivX / Platform 6 ones.

Dammit, it was so good for House!

In relation to the firearms next door: If you know that the person you are telling is going to get illegal firearms, and you tell them up front, them in that, it is illegal, you are "encouraging or assisting an offence believing it will be committed". That is more than likely the field of charges being put forward to the TV-Links guy arrested, in relation to the piracy industry.

Another good one is http://www.free-tv-video-online.info/

Although I now expect to be arrested for linking to a site that links to a site that has a link with illegally uploaded content.

Ah! C'mon of course he is breaking the law. He is showing or linking to shows in which he is not subscribed to himself. shows that TV companies shell out millions for.

Good sight though;)

Looks like a bit of a crackdown, I see Demonoid has gone now as well:

The CRIA threatened the company renting the servers to us, and because of this it is not possible to keep the site online. Sorry for the inconvenience and thanks for your understanding.
