Does anyone know of a peer-to-peer download program that makes it through the University firewall? Limewire has been shot down, majorly

I don't think there are any P2P programs that will work through the university firewall without quite some hackery (which basically require you to have an external server of sorts to proxy requests). Also, if you get caught, it's quite likely you'll lose your Internet connection, so it's not really worth the risk.

best thing to do is to find a good ftp site to join, costs some pennies but well worth the hassle. ive heard that 'tunneling programs' can make it through, or there's a student-run server that u can connect thru instead of resnet for a 5er a month, run off-campus - not sure if either of these works tho...

looking for albums?

just type into google the artist and album name then the name of a prominent filesharing site [rapidshare, megaupload, sendspace, zshare etc] and hunt away.

if it's specific songs you want try -
www.hypem.com or www.elbo.ws

if you want tv shows, movies or applications then get yourself a rapidshare premium account (a few € a month - www.rapidshare.com) and an account at www.warez-bb.org (free)

you'll get movies in about 5 minutes on a resnet connection. just make sure you don't download too much (ie. 20gigs a day) or you might receive a nice letter from the IT people.

(obviously you wouldn't download anything that is copyright protected or that you don't already own, that would be illegal and morally wrong)

have fun
