Funnily enough, my solution was not so drastic - more along the lines of the output from the cat...

I heard someone say that you can get free legal aid to fight bad landlords in a new inititive from the Scottish Gov'mnt.

Hopefully it will sort out Eve Brown sooner rather than later.

It's interesting you mention that Halls are supposed to be included. I was in McIntosh for the last two years; and the rules book they provided states differently. Don't have it to hand, But I believe it was something like "Residence Managers/ Wardens/ Anyone else with reasonable cause to be there, can enter your room at any time. Though where reasonable 24 hours notice will be given."

I think in one case out of four room inspections was any actual notice was given (assuming, writing it on the blackboard, counts as notice). The best one was in second year during the Inter-Semester break, where lots of people came back from lunch to find an inspection form on their desk, reprimanding them for the "mess" (I.E. things ready to be packed into bags) left on peoples beds!

What's your take on this James?

Now some people weren't happy about the content of that last post. And we can't have someone not happy. Not on the internet.

The difference is between whether you are a tenant or whether they are giving you a license to live their. If the former then the rules stated apply, if the later then they do not and they can enter whenever you choose.

Eve Brown gives out tenancies, not sure about halls. I would guess they are licenses, but I'm not sure. I don't even know if this distinction applies in Scotland, it does in England, to be honest, but I'd be interested in finding out.

That was the rule that was in my contract at Fife Park that i didn't appreciate. Why on earth would i want to live somewhere where someone has a right to just walk into my room whenever they want?
