Let's hope that when Moffat takes over as show runner he'll drop the grating level of camp and silliness that Davis seems to enforce, and hopefully push things a bit more. Probably not but we can hope.

Nope, I usually drunkenly leer at them and then pass out. Close, though...

When the writers lost their imagination, and couldn't fit as many double entendres into the script.

Well, after the last two-parter I think my faith in who has been restored. Hooray for Steven Moffat.

Seconded. Those 2 episodes really were what Dr Who should be - it actually worked on different levels! Still not a huge fan of David Tennant though, but the dialogue was great too.

Okay, several points:

1) Doctor Who airs in the US at 9pm eastern time on the Sci-Fi Channel: RIGHT BEFORE Battlestar Galactica, during prime time on the best night of the week. Evidently the decision-makers at Sci-Fi consider it quite capable of standing up to BSG (SG: Atlantis, too, which also has a Friday night slot, albeit during a different season).

2) Why all this "Why can't British television make good Sci-Fi like that American show BSG" nonsense? Sky One was and, as far as I know, still is a major partner in BSG. That's why the episodes for the first seasons aired in the UK BEFORE the US. All told, I believe there are four networks providing money and resources to make BSG: NBC, Sky One, Sci-Fi, and some Canadian network the name of which escapes me at the moment. Point being, if it looks better, is written better, and is acted better, it's probably because it has four times the resources (at least) behind it and is the result of serious industry collaboration - not because it's 'American sci-fi.'

3. The sillyness of Dr. Who turns me off, too, but I wouldn't say it's a bad or inferior show. The production values are decent, especially considering the challenge of a new set and supporting cast every episode (as was mentioned above). Clearly enough people enjoy it to make it a considerable success both in the UK and the US. Why not just leave each to their own?

The Library double episode was good, by far the best of this series and certainly the best episodes since The Beast In The Pit double episode.
