Honorary Life Memberships

When are honorary life memberships being awarded? When will we know if we've been awarded one? Will there be champagne (or at least sparkling wine)?

Apparently an e-mail is going to be sent out about HLMs towards the end of the week/start of next week.

Has anyone heard about their HLM yet?

An email with details about the reception went out today to those who got HLMs, methinks. There should be champagne indeed.
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once.

Congratulations to all who received an HLM - very well deserved for a truly amazing range of activities.

It sounds like the John Honey award is being doled out this year as well. I wonder who's in line? No doubt we'll find out on Friday.
Now some people weren't happy about the content of that last post. And we can't have someone not happy. Not on the internet.

Does having an HLM mean you don't have to be signed in as a guest if you come back to visit? Are people given cards or is there some master list in a drawer somewhere?

Cards will be sent out later in the summer I was told, and yepp, entry to the Union without having to be signed in. What filled me with great joy is that, given all those agreements, the same applies for most unions across the country, for life!

Is this for sure? Also, does this also apply to regular (ie paid-for) St Andrews union life memberships?

Incidentally, how do you go about paying for a life membership?

A life membership card - honorary or ordinary - should get you into any union that has a reciprocal agreement with our association.

It may have changed, but it used to be the case that you paid the fee for life membership at the Cash Office and then took the receipt to the General Office where your photo would be taken and the card issued.
