When I read "demo model" I thought "smaller version of the real thing" but, no... all of them are variations of that one.

It made me smile when I read it. In modernity, mega is popularly a word meaning "very good" or "great" but derives from "big and great". Kinda with the emphasis on the "big" part. But bless it, it's the cutest, icklest "truck" I've seen that didn't have Corgi or Tonka written on it.

The side decor shows that it is quite far from home. Unless there's parts of Scottish cities that have congestion fees.

They were probably pitching them to Estates to replace the couple of minuscule Suzuki Carrys or whatever they're currently using for putt-putting around on short journeys between buildings.

Ok, well it's definitely 2009 seeing as the copyright image says 2009.....

Also, check outside the union, there's a poster for summer 2009. And the superdry store is there which opened 2009 too.

Yeah, alright. I'll offer a prize to the person who can prove it with a picture. :)

Perhaps we can assume they stopped for brunch somewhere on market street?

I guess so. It can't take 2 hours to drive around central St. Andrews! Though South St. was done at 11:30am:

I also have some good evidence that the images were taken in May:

It's perfectly possible that it takes more than one pass-through of a town to capture it all. Technical difficulties would easily explain it - from problems with software, hardware, or just a bad recording from the van.

If your dates are true, however, you'd have to allow for a 3rd pass. Some of it was done in a different month.

I saw the car in town on two different occasions in two different months. I think March and May but it might have been February or April. I was sat on the wall at the Union but am not in the actual picture. So it may be fair to say there is a multitude of potential dates they were taking pictures.

That's going to make it hard to get an exact date for any picture, because it's hard to know what other data you can infer from.

It doesn't even seem to be localised pockets of different times. Try doing a virtual drive-by of Hope Park Church, opposite the Firkin... I mean, the Raisin. As you go past it you go from nice day, flowers outside, to nice day no flowers, to nice day with flowers again, finishing up at the roundabout with less nice day, no flowers, but a little sandwich board just outside the main door. Unless God is working in some extremely mysterious ways, that's at least three time periods in the space of twenty feet.

If you look at Ladbrokes on Kinnessburn Road, there's an ad in the window for an event taking place on May 27th. I don't think that would have gone up much more than a week in advance, so late May is probably one of the times.

When the satellite images went up for my home town, you could see my Mum, who is not a small lady, putting the washing out in the garden. We teased her that she was visible from space.

You do realise that's going back more than a decade now? Perhaps you'd like a pint in MacSorley's as well... :P

I surely would, that No1 Golf Place bar is shite. Who calls a bar 'No-one' and then expects anyone who's anyone to attend?

I would also like to raise a sad glass to the original Ogstons on South Street, Broons, the Tudor, the Lizard Lounge, and our most recent casualty, Aikmans and the Cellar Bar. Not that I liked most of those places, I'm just name-dropping now.

RIP Aikmans, though.

It's some time in the week leading up to the 23rd of July, according to the window of Waterstones which would explain why my bike is nowhere to be seen.

I'll drink to that! Though the Firkin and MacSorley's are both going too far back even for me. Personally, I rather liked the original incantation of 1 Golf Place. Aye... those were the days... all this were fields... when I was in the war...

The Shell garage on Bridge Street has both petrol and diesel at 102.9p/litre. I can't really remember what levels they were at in mid-2009, but it seems like it's quite possibly from around then, as it was definitely much higher in summer 2008!
