"those" people? No need to treat them like cattle, they're just not my cup of tea. At St Andrews? Over forty or so as my hall was full of them. In general though rather a few as some distant relatives happen to be like that.

How can you tell what kissing someone on the cheek says about that person, from a distance. Unless you actually talk to them you have no idea where they come from, what their social standing is, or what their social aspirations are. Best not to see someone kissing someone on the cheek and automatically assume that they're false or shallow or whatever. It's just a quirk of behavior. Nothing more.

I'd just like to re-emphasise the point that someone made earlier about New Year! I am a Scottish girl (glasgow area) so everyday kissing with people that you don't know too well is a big no no!
The only time it ever happens in my life is within my group of very good male and female friends on birthdays etc.
But anyone a bit confused about this whole thing must understand that this all goes completely out of the window when the clock strikes 12 on Hogmany, when its time for everyone to pucker up! lol

I've kind of lost track of what your point is. If I had said straight out I would be offended if someone did that to me I would have been accused of not backing my opinion up with facts.
The facts are that I find people like that false. Therefore I would be offended if they were false to me.
