You could also try AVG Anti-Virus, it has a free version and is meant to be quite good.

Does anyone know why when I try and install the AVG free version another program "Final Draft %" tries to install intself? Any help would be much appreciated.

If you got it from the grisoft website, I'm sure its fine. I dont remember AVG trying to install any other programs when I installed it, so I'm assuming its just a component of the software.
By the way, I have been using AVG as well as Norton for a while now, and AVG has found some infections that Norton missed out. Not to say norton is bad tho. Only real problem with it is that it sucks up a lot of system resources whereas AVG doesnt. You may also want to try Norman Antivirus free edition. THis uses even less resources. You can get it at
