Anyone know anything about this student film that was reported in the saint? Seems like quite a good idea - anyone know anything about the bloke who's making it as well?

Is he any good or is it just going to be another embarrasment?

"The Image Maker" is Ben Hecking's upcoming film, and shooting will commence for it in a few weeks.

Ben (and me) is part of a student filmmaking group called "Rouge Productions", who's outdated webside can be found at http://www.st-andrews.ac.uk/~roguep/

As for quality, all of those select few who have seen the script tell me it's shit-hot, and after seeing Mr. Heckings previous short films, I'm incline to agree with their enthusiasm.

Expect to see Ben's and a number of others' films to be filmed and released over the coming months.

While we're on the subject of Rogue, when/where have you guys been meeting up of late? I've kinda lost track of things...

But who is this Ben Hecking? What's he done before? All seems a bit adventurous to me - trying to make a 2 hour film whilst you're at uni.

Besides the other long student films haven't been that great have they? Why will this guy's be any different.

I'm not having a go or anything - all credit to him and I hope it goes well for him but I want to know more. Can anyone help?

Hmmmmm......corporate logos. Never a good sign. I write scripts, am a total film geek and one day intend to be a film director. I don't get involved in uni based projects because in my experience they are very restricting. However good luck to this guy whoever he is. The fact that he has the ambition to do it, in my opinion, is a one of the best things that can happen. Lets just hope hes not this years Michael Bay......

I heard this guy's like the next big thing - or was that something else entirely! ;-)

No I wish him all the best - if he can make a good film that is thought provoking and intelligent then big-up the lad.

All the best Mr Hecking - even if we don't know who you are.

P.S Was he the guy who made Island in the Sun for iMovie - the one with the guy on the beach? Or is my mind playing tricks on me.

The Weyland-Yutani corporation is fictional. It appears in the Aliens films.

yeah-I know but I was just making a random point. I hate corporations and just seemed like a random time to point that out lol....
As for the next big thing-thing, people always say that but it dosn't mean anything.

I'm being serious - I heard this guy is really good and that the script is kinda cool. Does anyone know what it's actually about.

I take it you won't be seeing it then Siouxie? Have you made any films yourself? Out of interest?

Who is Ben Hecking anyway and can anyone other than that twat HollywoodFX tell me if he made Island in the Sun, which was a GREAT film.

I saw a poster for a Rogue pub night at Drouthy's this coming wednesday at half eight and my friend says they meet every fortnight unless they have a social event.

I thought it was a rather funny little sketch piece, personally.

Is that the one where the guy gets knocked out by a golf ball, and eventually works his way back to civilisation (Chariots Bar)?

I thought was one of the best films of the season. The music was great, and fitted in well with the video. Humourous and entertaining!

The only bit that I didn't like all that much was the lame pun "Man Tuesday-afternoon".

Ben's got an article in today's Saint in case anybody wants to read. I've met him once or twice at Rogue meetups, he's a pretty sound guy.

Yes, Ben did the Island flick, and wrote this movie script he is directing...it is about student journalism and a bit of an ethical disaster...(I hope that is not saying too much Ben!) It will be great, but the Premiere is not until February, so lots of suspense until then...dun dun dun

How do you know the premiere will be in February if the shoot hasn't even started yet? (or has it?) Is the schedule very tightly wound?

Are you kidding?! Island in the sun was one of the best films last year! It was funny, well filmed, well acted and deserved to have been best comedy IMO. Not to mention it bloody well did have a plot! Were you asleep or something when you watched it?
