Wondering where i'd go to try and set up a society? And while im at it, would anyone be interesting in joining a St.Johnstone Society (no wait, seriously....) It would give a chance to folk from down south to see a local(ish) team, and maybe give the expierence of being in a football stadium to those man united, arsenal and chelsea fans out there........

Pick up a societies handbook from the General Office in the Union where the instructions are clearly and simply explained. Also pick up an affiliation form and hand that back into me, the Societies Officer, in my pigeonhole in the General Office. (you can also download in from http://www.yourunion.net/main/societies/Downloads.
Good luck.
There is a Hearts society out there, although unaffiliated.

http://www.yourunion.net should have some information/advice.
Alternatively, pop into the General office and ask for the guide to setting up societies.

Yeah thanks folks, although the first link didnt work managed to get some info anyway. This included the worrying confirmation that i need 20 fully-paid members before joining. Anyone know another 17 saints fans? Or just interested in following a local tema or simply joining to help me??!!

You'd be lucky to find 20 Scotsmen, let alone 20 St Johnstone fans, in St Andrews.

Good luck though. As an ICT fan, I sympathise entirely.

Thats a healthy trip to caley right enough. I was kinda hoping a few guys from down south might want a team to come and see and buses could be organised etc. The banters usually good in the first division as you'll know and always a good excuse for a booze-up at away games!

Not only is the banter good, Div 1 is a little more competitive than the SPL. McDiarmid park is a nice ground too - though at the pricey end of Div 1 I hear.

Hopefully East Fife will be promoted so I can actually get to see Caley play next year, other than the ritual humping of Raith Rovers, entertaining as that is...

Yeah, McD can be expensive but i was hoping to get offers on season tickets for prospective members etc. although ill obviously need to contact the club. Stark's park (raiths ground for those not in the know) is quite funny, one of the stand looks like it was made from lego. And a trip to Glebe park, Brechin, what more could anyone want?!??!

Yes, but nothing makes you feel better than when your team hammers some little ex-Div 2 side 5-0. Always nice to have those sort of teams in the division as well.

Although Morton I suspect will be trickier to deal with.

So St Johnstone not offer a student discount on entrance? I know Caley let me in at the concessionary rate (so cheap it almost makes up for having to walk 5 miles to the stadium).

As an Ayr United fan i think there ought to be a Division One society.. actually being na ayr united supporter it might be better if it was a Div/Div2 group :)

And why isn't there a Rocky Horror Apreciation soc? (there probably is and i was too dumb to notice it at socfayre...)

I know a couple of fans, but you may get a bit of stick.

Das Chair is from Perth, but a Hearts (IIRC) fan.

A Div 1 / 2 society would be interesting.

Do you think we could relegate members every year with their team?

Im afraid saints dont offer a student discount at the moemnt, but hoepfully the club will be accomodating (for once) if i was to get in touch if the required nmbers could be found. Interesting idea about a lower leagues soc, although as a saints fan i'd think of myself too big and far too importnat to be in it.....:p

You may as well get used to it, because going by current form, St Johnstone are in Div 1 for the long haul... :P

Besides, the first division is where the real football is played.
