downloading music in halls

for some reason i cannot get any download software such as kazaa to connect now im in halls. is it because of being connected to the uni server or is my comp just buggered?
i didnt say i was consistant, just right!

I think there's a university firewall that stops you using it. See Kazaa thread on main board:-

Download itunes off the apple mac site and that'll connect you to any hall pc with itunes on it, and there's all the music you want/need (hopefully; some have up to 50gigs of tracks on their hard-drives)

Kazaa Media Desktop software is not supported or allowed on the University Residence Network. The peer-to-peer technology and sharing compatibilities employed by this program are deemed to be both insecure and in breach of the terms and conditions of ResNet as well as increasing the spread of viruses from computer to computer (see extract below). Users should not make such a service available by means of sharing folders on their computers for any other user to access. You are strongly advised to remove Kazaa from your computer altogether.

'Most files that are accessible using Kazaa Media Desktop originate from other users. This means that there will always be the risk of irresponsible users introducing viruses
